June 2015

Collectors flocked to Royal Hospital Chelsea today for the opening of international art and antiques fair Masterpiece London, which brings together more than 150 exhibitors from around the world and showcases works that span at least 3,000 years of art history.

A highlight of this year’s fair is the revelation of a previously unseen Andy Warhol portrait,The Socialite, which is being exhibited by Long-Sharp Gallery alongside an early work by Pablo Picasso and an untitled Keith Haring blueprint. Also worth a visit is Thomas Gibson Fine Arts’ stand, where you can see Jeff Koons’ famous Balloon Dog sculpture.

Among the other dealers featured is FitzGerald Fine Arts, a specialist in contemporary Chinese ceramics, whose pieces encompass a new wall sculpture by Zhou Rong, exquisite porcelain panels by Gan Daofu and ink paintings by Mansheng Wang (including White Lotus I, pictured above).
